Catalog #17 - SUSQUEHANNA 1993-1996
Footage contained in this video covers the Southern Division, including M-1 excursions, steam excursions featuring Susquehanna's 2-8-2 #142, excursions with the Susquehanna E9's #2400 and #2402, the arrival of brand new power in the form of EMD SD70M's, and the usual stack train traffic.
Fan trips include a Dec-92 Santa Claus Special with the M-1, an Oct-93 Tri-State Railway Historical Society / Susquehanna Volunteer Association trip to Baird's Farm with #142, a Jul-94 URHS of NJ "Sussex Steam Ramble" with #142 and Morristown & Erie Alco C424 #18, the Aug-94 Electric Railroaders Association M-1 trip, and two Oct-95 URHS of NJ trips - one with NJ Transit equipment, then another with Suskie E9's.
August 1994 saw an increase in container traffic as the Susquehanna and Norfolk-Southern announced a new, 6-day-per-week Chicago to Little Ferry intermodal service. By the time the 3 new Suskie EMD SD70M's arrived in July 1995, we were seeing as many as 26 trains per week over Sparta Mountain, with foreign power from NS, SOO, CP Rail, and leasing outfit HATX.
Included as a bonus for steam fans is an additional 30 minutes of coverage of Ross Rowland's C&O 4-8-4 #614 fall excursions, run on the ex-Erie Southern Tier between Hoboken and Port Jervis, NY.
(Run time: 2 hours, 20 minutes.) Total price $27.00 postpaid to USA.
