Catalog #13 - NY, NJ, PA Tri-State Area 1991: Vol.1 Catalog #13 - NY, NJ, PA TRI-STATE AREA 1991: Vol.1

Included on this tape is about 40 minutes of coverage of the new Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern. Footage includes a weekend drill, as well as several scheduled railfan events. The CNJ Chapter NRHS RDC "King Coal Express" is covered, as well as an unpublicized Reading-Pottsville ramble behind T1 4-8-4 #2102. Of course, both days of the June Railfan Weekend are covered, with diesel and steam coal trains, featuring 23 run-bys of 7 different locomotives, including the Pennsylvania E8's on the Hamburg-Temple excursions.

Other specials include the Black River & Western "working mixed", which allowed railfans to ride and photograph a work train on the BR&W between Ringoes and the Conrail connection at Three Bridges, NJ. There is coverage of the "Erie Limited", run between Newark and Port Jervis, on the ex-Erie main, behind the restored Erie E8's, the Tioga Central Railfan Day in Owego, NY., and the Lehigh Valley/Hawk Mountain Chapter NRHS "Anniversary Special", run on the ex-CNJ Nesquehoning branch out of Jim Thorpe, PA. This run featured the newly-restored F3B in company with the tangerine & blue F3A. The sun was out and the colors are gorgeous.

To balance the excursion activity, there's more Delaware & Hudson mainline action showing the various leased units, as well as CP Rail power. Pushers are shown shoving heavy freights north out of Scranton and there are some nice snow scenes under sunny skies on the Lehigh Line south of Taylor. The tape concludes with an awesome display of power as 4 CP Rail SD40-2's grind up Belden Hill with 85 loads of coal.

(Run time: 2 hours.)    Total price $27.00 postpaid to USA.
