Catalog # 3 - SUSQUEHANNA SEQUEL
This is the follow-up to my 2-volume "From Weeds to Double-Stacks: The NYS&W Rehabilitation". The "Sequel" has a lot of activity on the reopened Sparta line, as well as some action in New York at Port Jervis, Campbell Hall, and Maybrook. The stone trains are still in action with an interesting mix of power, operating over Sparta Mountain. There are scenes at Maybrook depicting the complete run-around move that each Sea-Land train must make in order to reverse and come down the former Lehigh & Hudson River through Warwick.
Also included on this tape is some rare footage of the 'Snow Plow Extra', made up of the Jordan Spreader and 2 GP18's, on Sparta Mountain and at Lake Grinnell. There is some exclusive footage of the aftermath of the 7-unit derailment near Stockholm in November of 1986, taken at daybreak before any of the cleanup had begun. Also on this film is morning-after footage of the Franklin derailment. On the Franklin footage, I have dubbed in the actual scanner communications that took place at the time of the accident. I have a few shots of the new NYS&W track geometry vehicle and the Sperry Rail Service car on the premises after the derailments. There are views of the wreck salvage train headed back to Little Ferry with several TTX flat cars loaded with debris from the derailment.
The tape concludes with a rapid barrage of 14 power-only run-bys of a Sea-Land stack train at track speed after the line had been restored to 35 MPH service.
(Run time: 2 hours.) Total price $27.00 postpaid to USA.
